(S)ince the days of Newt Gingrich and "The Contract With America," Kelly has long been considered to be a loyal, lock-step Republican. That's why her proud disavowal of the so-called "party leaders" should raise a few amused eyebrows with the opposition.Yep, Sue Kelly is slowly realizing that being a loyal, lock-step Republican might not be the best tactic for re-election in 2006 which is why she's trying to pull the wool over the eyes of 19th CD voters by claiming to be "independent" of her G.O.P. overlords
